LIFTER GUN.
Cal. 12 Ga. 2 5/8". S# 15060. The 30" three stripe Damascus barrels are engraved "PARKER BROS. MAKERS MERIDEN CON. DAMASUS STEEL" on concave game rib. All correct marks are on barrel flats and watertable. There are no grade markings. Case hardened action with lightly sculpted fences has under lifter opening and is fitted with front spring, rebounding locks with early style firing pins. Action has radius to break off and reinforcing beads. Action and locks are engraved with geometric borders and have scroll flourishes in typical early grade 2 style. "PARKER BROS. is on each lockplate. S# is on blued trigger guard tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of lightly figured American walnut measures 14" over steel buttplate. Widely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant German silver shield is at top of grip. Matching splinter forend has patent date on Parker type latch. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .753. R .752. Restriction: L .032 (full). R .003 (IC). Wall thickness: L .036. R .034. STOCK: DAH: 2 7/8". DAC: 2". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 8 lb. 5 oz. CONDITION: fine as attractively restored. Barrels with about 80% of a good quality re-brown, loss due to subsequent cleaning of rust spots on barrel in front of forend. There is still some red rust either side of top rib toward muzzles. Action retains essentially all of a vibrant recolor hardening, engraving is somewhat softened. Stocks retain nearly all of a reapplied dark oil finish. There are a few scattered light handling marks. Checkering re-cut. Bores are shiny, polished over considerable pitting, there is evidence of dent removal in right barrel 14" behind muzzle. Action is slightly loose, locks are good. Gun does match specifications in ledger. (01-22054/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
