Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 5391. The 28" bbls. are stamped "D" on spacer and on rear of bottom bbl. Remington servicing dates present are "RR" (1946), "WW" (1950), "L" (1964). Bbls. are fitted with slightly raised narrow matted ventilated rib and have 2 1/2" triangles of shaded open scroll at breech ends and cover. Typical Model 32 action features blocked safety & nickel plated factory single selective trigger. Gun metal gray receiver is engraved in near full coverage large shaded open scrollwork surrounding single dog hunting vignettes. A low-tail pointer in a prairie scene w/ hills in background on left side. A classic setter in meadow scene w/ fence in background on right. Bottom of action has extension of flowing shaded scrollwork surrounding a pair of pheasant above maker’s badge REMINGTON / MODEL 32 / 5391 / SKEET and covey of quail below. Blued trigger guard has medium scrollwork on bow. Two images of Runge’s rare surviving original plaster engraving casts show this this exact gun w/serial number and engraving patterns. Capped pistol grip buttstock of fine stump figured American walnut is fitted with a replacement Hawkins pad. Stock treatment with checkered side panels and fleur-de-lis drop points with a very Parker-esque pattern of grip checkering which flares into comb. Hard rubber grip cap is double embossed "Remington". Forend has semi fancy checkering which matches buttstock in execution with ribbons through pattern. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAC: 1 9/16"; DAH: 2"; LOP: 14". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 13 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Gun housed in a Nasco aluminum travel case lined in black velvet, containing Kolar 3-Gauge tube set with fixed skeet chokes, numbered to gun. Bottom compartment fitted for the gun also contains tube installation tools. Accompanied by two image copies of the plaster engraving pulls. CONDITION: Very Good. Bbls. retaining most of a professional reblue, likely DelGrego. Action engraving has somewhat softened, especially on bottom. Stocks retain over 90% of an oil refinish with an older stabilized repair at the wrist and a few subsequent marks. Checkering is somewhat worn. Bores are bright & shiny with slight evidence of an old raised dent about 12" from muzzle in top bbl. Mechanically excellent and tight. Case shows use. Interior is good. Tubes appear little used. This gun is slated to appear in the upcoming reference book “Remington Embellished and High Grade Firearms from 1900 to 2013”, edited by Roy Marcot. (22-5483 JWD). CURIO. $5,000-8,000.
