KNIFE WITH SHEATH. V-44 survival knife mfg. for use in the CBI (China, Burma, India) theater. Blade is unmarked and measures 9 7/8" from the point the the bottom of the ricasso, with an overall length of 14 3/4". Handle is comprised of 2-piece riveted smooth brown synthetic grips scales, with a large brass full guard. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather scabbard, stamped with an illegible mfg. marking on the rear of the belt loop. CONDITION: blade retains a gray patina, exhibiting light pitting and areas of age related discoloration. Tip of blade exhibits a small chip. Brass guard exhibits a pleasing mellow patina, with scattered spots of verdigris. Grip scales exhibit scattered superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Sheath remains malleable, exhibiting wear and scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with a few spots of age related cracking. (02-24404/MLW). $600-900.
