WW1 German Prussian Infantry Officer's Degen Sword, with 31'' nickel plated blade. The blade is straight with two narrow fullers and is maker marked at the ricasso with back-to-back squirrel emblem of Carl Eickhorn. There is a Roman number XI scratched above the maker's mark. The folding guard, basket, and pommel are brass with remnants of a gold fire gilt finish. The guard has the Prussian eagle in the center. The grip is a smooth black composition material with triple twisted wire wrapping. There is a royal cipher of Wilhelm II in the center of the grip. Scabbard is black-painted steel with one hanging ring. OAL is 38''. Condition is good with the blade retaining most all of its bright nickel-plated finish, the tip possibly re-pointed. Original buff leather blade washer is present. Hilt fittings have wear to the bright gold finish, with a dark uncleaned brass finish remaining. Grip wire wrapping is missing some of the smaller wire segments. Scabbard shows scratches, scuffs, and losses to the finish, but no dents. Est.: $150-$250.
