WWI UNIFORM & PHOTOGRAPH BELONGING TO FAMOUS
MAINE AUTHOR LOUIS FELIX RANLETT. This uniform group belonged to 2nd Lt. Louis Felix Ranlett, who was the head of the Bangor, Maine Library for many years. He was one of Maine's noted & prolific authors. Ranlett saw service in WWI initially as a Corporal in the 308th Infantry of the 77th division and later as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 23rd Infantry of the 2nd division. Included in the lot is his winter weight uniform coat with correct collar insignia as well as bullion overseas chevrons & sleeve braid. In the pocket is a pair of gloves with a small sewn-in tag that reads "RANLETT". There is also an interesting private purchase officer's overcoat with heavy wool liner. The coat has a tag in the rear that reads "BURBERRYS PARIS". Lastly, there is a large original photograph of Mr. Ranlett in his ROTC uniform. CONDITION: uniform shows light overall wear. Overcoat shows light to moderate wear with minor staining. Photograph remains crisp & clear. (02-19497-1/BF). $300-500.
