AIR CORPS. This group includes two large photo albums containing scores of photographs, mostly of Perry when he was stationed in Panama during WWII. Many of the photographs show various airplanes and Air Corps personnel. Perry appears to have attained the rank of sergeant by the end of the war. There is a partially filled-out book titled "His Service Record." There is a certificate of appreciation signed by the Commanding General of Army Air Forces. There are large portrait photos of his mother and possibly his girlfriend. Apparently, after the war, Perry obtained his pilot's license, and his pilot logbook is included with the lot. One of the most interesting pieces in the lot is a polychromatic leather patch depicting a marching tiger in a red sweater and bowler hat. The back of the patch is marked "53rd FTRSqdn 24 Fighter Group 72nd FTR WNG 9th Air Force." Lastly, the group contains a few military and associated pins, an Air Corps ring, a WWII German police eagle, a WWI Victory Medal, and two printing blocks. We suggest, if at all possible, you preview this lot in person. CONDITION: Photographs are clear. Bindings, of course, have wear but are reasonably solid. Leather patch appears unissued. Other items show light wear. (02-23660/BF). $300-500.
