This badge features a flying eagle grasping a party symbol superimposed over an oak leaf and laurel leaf wreath. The back of the eagle has a stylized "A" for Assman. The eagle is attached by two rivets, and the wreath is stamped "800". The wreath is professionally hand-engraved "Oblt. Ernst Blavensteiner 28.09.38. Fleiger Reg. Nr. 1 Wien". The original case has a dark blue, textured finish and is embossed "Beobachterabz." in gold on the lid. The interior has blue velvet with a blue silk-like pillow. This badge is exceptionally well made; however, we feel, due to variations in manufacturing style and techniques not generally seen in Assman products, that this badge is a high-quality reproduction. CONDITION: badge shows expected wear both on the front and reverse. Case shows light to moderate wear with loss of finish at the corners. (02-23295-6/BF). $200-400.
