WWII GERMAN PANZER GRENADIER UNIFORM, PANTS, HAT,
SHIRT, BOOTS, BINOCULARS & EARPHONES POSSIBLY BELONGING TO 1ST LIEUTENANT LOTHAR DOTMANN. Uniform coat is of heavy black wool with black, 4 hole, sew on buttons in 2 sizes down the right side. The left breast has 3 sets of loops for badges & below the loops is a sewn on bullion SS rune patch. The shoulder boards are silver bullion on light green with a single pip denoting a 1st Lieutenant of the Panzer Grenadiers. The collar is piped in the same light green & the black wool collar tabs are also piped in light green with a Death’s Head device in the center of each. The left sleeve has a superb silver bullion police eagle & wreath insignia sewn on. The partial interior lining is of dark putty gray colored rayon. The inside back & sleeves are unlined. The inside left breast lining area is stamped, “ROGER KAUERT K.G. 40 43 104 62 64 Po 1943”. The pants are of the same heavy black wool material with a built in black cotton belt. There are 2 diagonally oriented slash pockets with flaps on the front & 2 additional pockets in the rear. There is also a watch pocket to the right of the fly. The fly closes with 4 exterior buttons & the waist closes with 2 interior buttons.
The cuffs have a single button flap closure with black cotton ties at the hem. The interior waistband & interior pockets are khaki colored cotton. The waistband is stamped, “75 80 100 106 ROGER KAUERT K.G. Po 43”. The side cap is of black wool with the top piped in light green & the flap edge piped in silver. Cap has a sewn on police insignia on the front & a pin on the left side which appears to be an armored personnel carrier. Interior has a sm. leather sweatband in the front. It is stamped on 1 side, “POL.44 60”. The other side has a sewn in tag that reads, “Pol. Pzkw. Abt. 14”. Written in ink, on a dotted line, at the base of the tag is the name, “Dotmann, Lothar”. The collared, long sleeved shirt is made of black wool with 2 flap pockets in the front. The pullover shirt has a partial 4 button closure down the front. There are 2 buttons on each cuff. The back of the collar is stamped with an illegible series of numbers & letters in white with “II” below. An original pair of German hobnail boots measuring approx. 11 1/2" x 13" high. Boots are of sewn leather construction with metal reinforced heels. The uniform group includes a set of Panzer earphones with throat mike & connecting device. Earphones are complete with all wires & associated plugs. The binoculars measure approx. 9" x 5 1/2" & are marked, “HENSOLDT WETZLAR 5361 NACHT- -DIALYT 7x56”. CONDITION: the uniform, pants & shirt show light overall wear. Side cap shows light wear with minor staining to police insignia. Boots show moderate wear & heavy use. Earphones & mike show light to moderate wear particular to the attachment cables. Binoculars show expected wear but appear to be fully functional. NOTE: After extensive close examination of the Panzer Uniform itself we have determined that the Uniform coat may be of post WWII manufacture. We feel that the insignia, hat, and all other items in the lot are correct and of the WWII era however, there is disagreement over the age of the wrap.
