FRIEDRICH HEEL OF THE ARMY GENERAL STAFF. This stunning tunic is standard Army green w/ a dark green collar. It has 5 buttons down the front that appear to be sewn w/ their original thread. The 4 pockets on the front also have buttons sewn w/ similar thread. Shoulder boards are correct & original for a Major of the General Staff showing carmine red trim. The collar tabs are bright green w/ silver bullion & matching carmine red centers. The stitching on the back of the collar tabs indicates they were likely field applied. The bullion breast eagle is sewn correctly above the right pocket w/ no stitches through the lining. The 3 award ribbon bar is correctly pinned through loops & shows the Iron Cross Second Class, War Merit Cross Second Class w/ swords & Russian Front medal. There is a silvered General Assault badge, First Class Iron Cross & Back Wound badge attached at the left breast pocket through correctly sewn attachment loops. The top of the left sleeve has a Krim Shield award sewn w/ stitching that, in places, extends through the lining indicating field attachment. There are no interior labels or markings. The sleeve lining & tunic lining are complete & expertly sewn. There is an interior clip on a 9" wool strap extending from the base of the left armpit. Peaked cap has a field green crown w/ dark green band. There is a bullion wreath w/ a medal cockade in the center. The silvered Army eagle above the wreath is attached through the lining & there are extra holes in the lining. Matching pebbled finish side buttons attach a silver bullion chinstrap. The piping is bright carmine red indicating General Staff. Cap has a leather sweatband that has an impressed mark that reads, “EREL PATENT STIRNSCHUTZ”. A typed tag inside the sweat shield reads, “Major i.G. Heel / Gen St d H/Gen Qu”. A brown leather officer’s belt w/ aluminum, 2 prong, frame buckle. Belt measures approx. 42" in length. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a folder containing evaluations & paperwork pertaining to Major Heel along w/ a display plaque that reads, “MAJOR FRIEDERICH WILHELM HEEL ARMY GENERAL STAFF BERLIN 1944-1945”. CONDITION: tunic shows light overall wear w/ mothing to the edges of the shoulder boards & wear to the tops of the shoulder boards. Badges have expected wear & tarnish. Cap shows scattered mothing throughout but remains substantially solid & visually attractive. There is some finish wear to the visor. Belt shows light to moderate usage wear.
