Second Lieutenant Frank Henry Egner was born on July 15, 1918 and was part of the 808th Tank Battalion during WWII. Included in this grouping is a captured, large Nazi flag and a photo of Egner with one other soldier holding the flag sometime after the war. Also included is 4 riker cases full of memorabilia from Egner. In one of the cases is a pair of transparent grips for a 1911A1 with the emblem of Tank Destroyer units on one side and Egner and his wife on the other. The grips are displayed with his weapons qualifications pins, dog tags, collar pins, and original patches. Also displayed are newspaper clippings, stamps, photos, and more. This lot also contains a box of field manuals and books detailing uniform codes as well as a box of photographs taken overseas by Egner. Also included are Egner’s footlocker and shipping crate with the shipping crate containing his WW2, Seaman Paper Co. produced helmet liner, cold weather parka pants, other cold weather field wear, and misc. web gear. Also included is a binder full of records from officer’s school dating February 10 to March 23, 1943 including tactics reports and manuals. Other items included are film reels, overseas hats, camp photos, and more. An excellent, personal collection of US WWII history! Must see photos.
