Webley Mark I 455 cal SN: 31018
British military top-break double action revolver chambered for .455 Webley, manufactured circa 1887-1895. Features a blued finish, 4" barrel, forged round blade front sight, notched rear sight on the barrel catch, fluted six-shot cylinder, automatic extractor, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, lanyard ring on the bird's head shaped butt, two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips. Serial numbers match on the barrel, frame & cylinder. British proof marks are observed on the barrel and over every charge hole on the cylinder. Other markings include broad arrow marks with "WD", very large engraved broad arrow on the topstrap, "WEBLEY/MARK I/PATENTS" on the frame & numerous military proofs on the major components. Cylinder appears not shaved, with proofs and other marks visible on rear face. Bore is good condition, showing dark streaks and frosting, with strong rifling. The revolver retains approximately 10% of it's original finish, now mostly showing mottled browns and lighter gray colors, some small areas of shallow pitting. Grips are very good, with some smoothing of the checker points. Action is smooth, does not pick up the hammer for double action, trigger return is weak, operates fine in single action, has good lock-up. Cylinder can jump the locking bolt and turn with trigger at rest. Extractor operation is strong.
Condition is NRA Fair due to operation issues
