Webley ''WG Target Model'' Top-Break Double Action Revolver, #20820, .455/.455 Webley MK II cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, high polish factory blue finish, checkered rosewood grips, factory target sights, finely checkered target trigger, with lanyard loop in butt. Sometimes referred to as the Model of 1896 or the Webley-Green and having been produced within the serial number range of 10306-22126. Many of the early examples were purchased by officers on their way to the Boer War. This revolver was almost certainly mfg'd between 1902-1904, somewhat too late for that conflict; however, they do show up again during WWI notably with Royal Artillery officers. It is also of interest that guards at the Bank of England were issued WG Targets during this same time period, presumably for their accuracy and stopping power. This revolver is adorned with ''W&S'' winged bullet logo, London proofs, ''England'' and Nitro proof tonnage with P. Webley & Sons, London & Birmingham to top rib of barrel. Condition is fine holding about 87% of its factory high polish blue finish with typical high edgewear, overall scuffing with some additional finish loss to right side barrel flat at muzzle. Grips with moderate wear as flattening to checks, as well as some bruising but no cracks or losses. Action functions well in all regards, bore is fine. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R/PPT)
