For many big game hunters, harvesting a cougar is a life-long dream. Don’t wait to make it happen! There are great cougar numbers in Idaho right now with generous hunting seasons and opportunities. There isn’t much more that will get your heart pumping than being within 25 feet of the mountain’s deadliest predator.
You will have at least two guides hunting separate properties with their own dogs and equipment each day.
They hunt both dirt and snow. When they have dirt conditions they spend their time free casting dogs and walking areas that they know cats like to frequent. If you’re not much of a walker, they gladly do the walking and have you wait nearby for them until they have one jumped. When they have snow, a lot of time is spent driving roads on machines and looking for tracks. On the snow, they can see a track and tell you approximately how big it is before they turn the dogs loose. With this hunt, there is also the opportunity to hunt another elusive predator, the North American Gray Wolf.
This is a week long hunt, with ample opportunity to run hounds on the mountain lion of your dreams, see breathtaking mountain landscapes, and even bag a wolf!
