William Read & Sons SxS 28 Ga S/N 2946 Belgium made boxlock side-by-side double barrel shotgun chambered for 28 gauge shells, circa 1880's - 1890's. Receiver & barrel are stamped "William Read & Sons Boston", a large retailer of Europeanshotguns in the late 1800's who also had their own line of shotguns. Features blued 26.25" barrels with raised solid rib, brass bead front sight, case hardened receiver with light scroll engraving, double triggers, extractor, checkeredtop lever, sliding safety switch on tang, and finely hand checkered walnut forend & round knob pistol grip shoulder stock with Pachmyer recoil pad. Matching serial numbers on receiver, barrel & forend. Barrelsare turning slightly plum and exhibit some light surface rust emerging. Receiver shows drifting case colors with vivid colors behind recoil shields and forward of the trigger guard. Action is crisp, bores are brightwith light residue, and stocks are near fine with few blemishes. Condition is very good+. ***Antique Firearm*** EST:$900.00 - 1,800.00
