Third model 'SRC', circa 1881. 20" bbl, marked “WINCHESTER’S-REPEATING-ARMS, NEW HAVEN, CT. / KING’S-IMPROVED-PATENT MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860”. Full length magazine tube, blade front sight, dovetailed u-notch rear sight, saddle ring and dust cover present, two barrel bands, smooth walnut forend and straight grip shoulder stock with metal carbine trapdoor buttplate. Rifle displays a dark aged brown/gray patina with some lighter silver tones from wear and scattered areas of pitting. Barrel markings are faint, partly washed out from wear/pitting, serial number on lower tang is faint but readable., action is smooth, and bore has rifling present, with dark frosting in the grooves, pitted. Wood stocks are good/sound, have been cleaned at some point, minor scratches/dings. The upper tang is missing the lower screw, the the lower barrel band is missing the left screw. Comes with Cody Firearms Record Office stating this rifle was received in warehouse Dec. 04, 1882, and shipped De. 26, 1882.
