Desirable high quality bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .30-06 Government, manufactured circa 1930. The model 54 was Winchester's first bolt action rifle built to handle heavy high-velocity ammunition, production lasted from 1925-1936 with just over 50,000 produced. Features a blued finish, shortened 22" tapered barrel with front sight removed, rear sight removed with insert in dovetail, old re-blue finish leaving the Winchester marking a little shallow, serrated trigger, blued bolt with turned-down handle & three-position safety on the rear, internal box magazine and checkered walnut pistol grip shoulder stock, serrated metal buttplate. Safety positions are opposite of typical Mauser type rifles, "safe" is with flag to left, "fire" with flag to right. Rifle exhibits a thinned finish with approximately 80% bluing retained, metal surfaces have scattered light areas of pin-prick pitting. Action is sound, the bore appears good, strong rifling, some light frosting in the grooves, markings are very good and the wood stock is very good condition with small dents & scratches. some thinning to the finish on the buttstock. Missing the grip cap. Mounted with a Bushnell 4x Banner scope with weaver rings, clear optics. T reticle.
