Winchester 70 250-3000 Sav SN: 116682
‘Pre-64’ Scarce and desirable controlled round feed bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .250-3000 Savage. Manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1949. Dean Whitaker author of the book “The Model 70 Winchester 1937-1964” has noted that of the approximately 135,000 units manufactured during the first thirteen years of Model 70 production, .250-3000 Savage chambered variations make up an "extremely small percentage." Features a blued finish, 24” round tapered barrel, ramped & hooded bead top blade front sight, blank inserted into the rear sight dovetail, Redfield 6x scope mounted w/ two-piece Leupold base, serrated curved trigger, three-position ‘transitional’ safety on the rear on the bolt, swept-back bolt handle, three-round internal box magazine with hinged floorplate and hand checkered semi-pistol grip walnut stock with sling swivels, knurled steel buttplate & 13 1/2” LOP. Matching serial numbers on the receiver and bolt. Rifle retains approximately 90%+ of its original blued finish showing scattered minor wear and some surface rust on the bolt. The action is mechanically sound, the bore is bright, the markings are sharp, and the walnut stock are very good+ with just minor imperfections from normal use/storage.
