Winchester Model 1892 Custom Grade John Wayne 100th anniversary pair of lever action rifles, .44 W.C.F. cal., serial #JW100C0402 and JW100H0402. This pair of consecutively numbered rifles in accompanied by a special edition leather coveredwooden case. One rifle is finished in high polish blue with gold engraving and inlay. John Wayne’s signature is inlaid in gold on the barrel. The receiver has additional scroll engraving and a depiction of the actor on horseback. The highgrade checkered walnut stock is finely finished with a gold medallion inlaid. The second rifle is high polish nickel nitride finish with beautiful engraving and John Wayne’s signature inlaid in gold on the barrel. The rifle is complemented bya high grade smooth walnut stock with a silver plated medallion inlaid in the butt stock. These rifles were a special edition limited to 1,000 pairs. The lot includes two copies of American Rifleman and a copy of Guns magazine each witharticles about the limited edition set. A seldom seen collectible commemorating John Wayne’s 100th birthday in a special edition case with consecutively numbered rifles. Est.: $2,750-$5,500. (Modern).
