Winchester Model 1895 lever-action rifle chambered in .30 US (30-40 Krag). Manufactured in 1904 and was the first Winchester rifle to feature as box magazine allowing the rifle to chamber both military and hunting cartridges. The 1895 was the last of lever-action rifles designed by John Browning, features a rear locking bolt and is considered the strongest lever-action rifle that Winchester ever produced. The Winchester 1895 was the choice of the Arizona rangers as noted in all their historical articles. This rifle has the rare 28" light tapered barrel, factory sights with a crescent steel butt plate, 5 round fixed box magazine. The bore is a little dark with strong riflingThe wood is very goodwith just a few light pressure marks, no cracks or chips, the forend is accented with an ebony insert, the lever-action is strong and the lock-up is tight. This rifle is an Arizona gun purchased in Bisbee, Arizona decades ago by an Arizona gun collector. the metal finish is in the white, mixed with areas of brown patina. Included is an original box of 20 Peters rustless center fire 30-40 & Winchester smokeless 220 grain metal cased bullets in pristine condition.
