Winchester Model 55 takedown lever action rifle, .30 WCF cal., serial #979. The rifle is in overall fine condition with a 24” blued barrel with a Lyman front and period peep sight. The rear sight has been removed and the dovetailfilled with a Stith insert. The barrel and magazine tube retain approximately 80% of their original blued finish with only slight surface scratches and some knackering around the take down lever noted. The receiver retains approximately50% of its flaking blued finish with the remainder going to patina. The smooth wood stocks are in overall very good condition with small mars and loss of finish consistent with use. Aftermarket sling eyes have been added and the butt stock ends with a checkered steel butt plate. Then bore is very good, the action crisp and markings sharp on this desirable Model 55. A nice combination of high condition and a low three digit serial number, manufactured in 1925. (C+R) Est.:$1,750-$3,250.
