* Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifle, .270 WCF cal., serial #28223. The rifle is in overall very good condition with a 24” blued barrel. The barrel and receiver retain the majority of their blued finish with some thinning of the finish on top of the barrel and on the magazine base plate. The ramp front sight remains, while the rear sight has been removed and the dovetail filled with a plug. The checkered wood stock is in overall very good condition with typical mars and compressions consistent with field use. The rifle ends with a checkered steel butt plate showing significant blue finish and includes a period leather sling. The rifle is topped with Bausch and Lomb adjustable proprietary mounts and a Balvar 5 variable power 2.5 x 5 scope. The bore is very good, the action is crisp and markings sharp. Manufactured in 1940, this Model 70 was manufactured at the beginning of the second world war showing the quality and craftsmanship of the era. Est.: $600-$1,200.
