serial #948507, 44 W.C.F., 16'' round barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 92% original blue with mild thinning on the barrel and scattered light wear and handling marks on both, and the barrel bands have worn to gray with areas of light oxidation staining. The receiver retains about 75-80% original blue with light wear on the high edges and contact points, finely speckled remnants of old oxidation, and some light handling marks including an attractive ghost ring left from contact with the saddle ring; the loading gate shows nice fire blue. The straight grip walnut stock is in near excellent condition as lightly cleaned with a handful of scattered light dings and handling marks, the steel buttplate intact with general wear toning to pewter at the heel and toe, and light oxidation staining. The Winchester factory markings are intact and crisp, the left side of the barrel reading ''—MODEL 92— WINCHESTER — 44 W.C.F. — / TRADE MARK'', and the right ''MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO / NEW HAVEN, CONN.''. The carbine is sighted with a Marble's 94-C white bead front sight and a ladder-style rear sight, and three screws show the beginnings of slot wear. A nicely preserved saddle ring carbine, a fine option for the Winchester collector. (14B11523-41) {C&R} [Jim Thrash Collection] (7000/9000)
