* Winchester Pre-War Model 70 bolt action rifle, .270 WCF cal., serial #74734. The rifle is in overall very good condition with a 24” blued barrel. The barrel and receiver retain the majority of their blued finish with some thinning and loss of finish evident on the barrel. The ramp front sight remains, while the rear sight has been removed and the dovetail filled with a plug. The checkered wood stock is in overall very good condition with small mars, scrapes and compressions consistent with field use. The rifle ends with a checkered steel butt plate showing significant blue finish and includes a period leather sling. The rifle is topped with Bausch and Lomb adjustable proprietary mounts and a Balvar 8 variable power 2.5 x 8 scope. The bore is very good, the action is crisp and markings sharp. Manufactured in 1949, this Model 70 was built in the transition into post war production. Est.: $600-$1,200.
