Zischang Barreled Sharps 1878 Borchardt Schuetzen Rifle Owned by Dr. A.A. Stillman
This rifle belonged to famed Schuetzen shooter Dr. Albert A. Stillman of Syracuse, New York. Rifle has a 32-1/2" blued round tapered No. 3 weight barrel in 32-40 caliber made by August O. Zischang of Syracuse and is so marked. Barrel is fitted with Wind gage front sight with no rear sight provision and Vernier tang peep sight. Case-hardened action with no serial number with floral line engraving with "Dr. A. A. Stillman Syracuse, N.Y." in oval in script on left side. Action has double set triggers with standard lever and solid post palm rest with checkered walnut knobs. Zischang style walnut checkered pistol grip Schuetzen stock with blued Helm butt plate and horn grip cap. Matching walnut splinter checkered forearm with Schnabel tip. Great historic rifle! J.T. CONDITION
90% blue with light scuffs. 90% vivid case colors with sharp engraving and edges turning brown. 90% original high gloss varnish with sharp checkering and small dings and nicks. Good bore and mechanics.
