1903 Springfield Rod Bayonet Rifle with 24.2" barrel, serial #40081. Refer James Julia lot 1001 Spring 2006 where it fetched over $30,000 (thirty thousand). This rifle shows minor modifications and an excellent oldrefinish of which 85-95% remains and is difficult to detect unless examined by a Springfield expert. Indeed it has previously sold as original finish but upon close examination it is expertly refinished. Thesafety and internal trigger mechanism have been upgraded to slightly later modifications. We agree it is one of the Finest and Most Important Springfield Arms Extant!! The stock is original and near finewith 1904 cartouche with P and L inspections. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks. Buyer pays all packing, material, handling, shipping costs and insurance. International Shipments will be sent to an exporter and buyer agrees to pay all costs incurred including all shipping costs, insurance, exporter fees and all custom & applicable duty fees.
