AMERICANS. 1) TO-KA-CON. A hand-colored waist-up view of a Sioux chief named To-Ka-Con. He wears a beaded shirt with two necklaces, earrings, three head feathers, and holds a sword. The print measures approx. 19 1/2" x 14" overall. Under the title are the words "PUBLISHED BY F.W. GREENOUGH, PHILADA Drawn Printed & Colored at I.T. Bowen’s Lithographic Establishment No. 94 Walnut St Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1836 by F.W. Greenough in the Clerk’s Office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Penna." CONDITION: print has one rough edge where it was likely removed from a book. Colors are quite striking. 2) OCHIO-FINICO. A hand-colored waist-up view of a Native American named Ochio-Finico-Charles Cornels. He wears a red-trimmed, gray/blue hunting jacket over a white shirt with red polka dots. Below the image reads "Philadelphia Published by E.C. Biddle. Lehman & Duval Lithr. Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1834 by E.C. Biddle in the Clerk’s office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Penna." Print measures approx. 15 1/2" x 22". CONDITION: print shows very slight foxing but colors remain crisp and vibrant. (02-23201/BF). $300-500.
