I’m Skip Soderholm, and the American flag has been a fundamental part of my entire life. I grew up loving our country, so much so that I enlisted in the Army at the age of 21. I planned on serving for only four years but found myself raising my right hand in front of our flag and swearing to defend our constitution over and over again. I spent 25 years serving our nation, retiring in May of 2019. I was fortunate enough to spend 20 of those years serving in a Special Mission Unit, where I had the privilege of deploying 11 times to the Middle East. I conducted hundreds of combat operations on those deployments, carrying an American flag on everyone.
I believe our nation’s flag is a thing of beauty, a symbol of strength, and a work of art. As a veteran, I spent over half my life fighting for this flag, and now I want to share her beauty and inspiration with others. I make every flag using hand-selected hardwoods and fine woodworking craftsmanship. Each star is hand carved. Each piece is unique. Each flag tells a story. I hope my artwork brings a sense of pride and patriotism to your life.
