Extremely Rare Sharps New Model 1863 Rifle Converted to 52-70 Rimfire
Made circa 1867 by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company of New Haven, Connecticut as a percussion rifle and converted to 52-70 Rimfire with very few known to exist. Rimfire style breechblock. 30" blued round barrel with 6 groove rifling and fitted with socket type bayonet. Standard military sights with standard markings and "R.S.L." inspector marks. Converted percussion action with standard markings except for an "x" on the tang of action above the serial number "C42673". Standard walnut stocks with three barrel bands and no visible cartouches with standard iron hardware. J.T. Livengood Collection. CALIBER: 52-70 Rimfire. S/N: C42673. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall brown gun with heavy usage wear. Wood has dry appearance like guns used in the West. Good bore and mechanics.
