serial #3019, 38-55, 26'' round barrel with full magazine and a mostly bright very fine bore showing a few small areas of light pitting scattered about the grooves and otherwise crisp rifling throughout. This extremely desirable early rifle features the distinctive ''10 o'clock'' screw near the loading gate on the right side of the frame. This rifle also remains in very nice condition, the barrel and magazine tube retaining about 92% original blue showing some even thinning to mild gray-brown patina under bright light, some sparsely scattered tiny dings and light handling marks. The action retains perhaps 65% original bright blue with a moderately flaked areas on either side toning to a pleasant mild gray-brown patina along with a bit of sparse old oxidation speckling. The nosecap is a relatively even mix of bright blue and gray-brown patina while the bolt retains about 95% nice rich bright blue. The hammer retains lovely vibrant case-hardened colors throughout while the lever retains fine colors mixing with smoky case-hardened patina and a bit of light surface oxidation, the crescent steel buttplate also a mild smoky gray case-hardened patina. The extractor and loading gate both retain much of their brilliant fire blue and all proper markings remain intact and strong. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend remain in very fine condition, perhaps near excellent, the buttstock retaining perhaps 90% original finish with some scattered light dings and handling marks. Stock fit is excellent and the wood actually exhibits some rather attractive subtle grain figure throughout. The rifle is sighted with standard sporting rear sight and small German silver blade front sight. This is a lovely honest rifle for the advanced Winchester collector, retaining very fine original finish. (13D11669-4) {ANTIQUE} (6000/8000)
