These interesting binoculars used by anti-aircraft units. Germany used the acronym FLAK "Flieger Anti-Kanone" for these units. The binoculars were called Doppelfernrohr or double telescopes and marked D.F. They are marked on the right side "cxn" the production code for Emil Busch. There are additional markings including a S#, and a red "X" indicating the lubricant to be used as well as a blue triangle. A knob with the markings "KLAR" (clear), "DUNKLE" (dark), "MITTLE"(middle) and "HELL" (light) is on the left of the eyepiece. There are numerous adjustments for vertical and horizontal bearings. The binoculars fit to the tripod with a dovetail which does not seat fully. The tripod measures app. 48" tall in its lowest position. CONDITION: The binoculars and tripod have a good appearance with the expected moderate wear exhibited by vintage military equipment. The binoculars retain a large degree of their tan finish. The binocular mount has a flaking black finish with light oxidation. The tripod retains app. 75% of its worn finish. Optics are cloudy. Leveling bubble is intact. (02-23921/RW). $700-1000.
