This aluminum train eagle measures approx. 24" x 13 1/4". It depicts a German eagle atop a wreath that surrounds a black-painted Party symbol. The reverse has two tapped holes at the top of each wing and another at the base of the wreath. These holes are fitted with steel screws of unknown age. The reverse is marked just under the eagle's neck "Wehag AL-MG-SI F13". "Wehag" is the acronym for "Werke der Stadt Halle AG", a factory in the city of Halle that produced train eagles like this example. CONDITION: The eagle shows light overall wear, with numerous casting flaws on the reverse. The paint on the Party symbol is about 50% intact. (02-23635/BF). $300-600.
