No.1: French Model 1842/59 Bayonet. 22 3/8" bright fullered curved blade. 27 1/2" overall. Blade is marked on back in script. Markings include "1842". Steel crossguard & grooved brass handle. Spring catch on these bayonets was changed to a press-stud. Scabbard is not present. CONDITION: blade has extensive oxidation & fine pitting over its original bright finish. Crossguard has turned patina & handle has pleasing worn dark patina. No.2: French Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 5/8" fullered curved blade. 27 1/2" overall. Blade markings on top in script include "St / Etienne / 1872". Crossguard w/ curved quillon. S# matches scabbard. Grooved brass handle. Matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade has been cleaned, leaving a good appearance, but is returning to gray. Brass handle has been replated & showing wear w/ scratches. Scabbard shows a large portion of its original blue, but has been cleaned, leaving wear & light pitting. No.3: French Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 3/4" bright fullered curved blade. 27 1/2" overall. Blade is marked only w/ tiny acceptance marks. Steel crossguard carries acceptance marks w/ S#. Grooved brass handle. Blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade has dull gray appearance w/ areas of light oxidation & fine pitting throughout. Crossguard has turned overall patina. Grip has a dark worn patina'd appearance. Scabbard shows a moderate degree of original blue w/ areas of oxidation & light pitting throughout. No.4: French Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 1/2" bright fullered curved blade. 27 1/4" overall. Blade markings on top in script include "1871". Steel crossguard w/ curved quillon. Quillon carries acceptance marks & S# which matches scabbard. Grooved brass handle. Steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is turning gray & patina w/ light oxidation throughout. Crossguard has oxidized appearance. Handle is turning patina w/ dents & scratches. Matching scabbard shows a degree of original blue w/ oxidation & pitting throughout. Scabbard is notably dented & bent at tip. No.5: French Model 1874 Gras Bayonet. 20 3/8" bright "T" profile blade. 25 1/4" overall. Script markings on back of blade include "St / Etienne / 1879". Crossguard w/ curved quillon carries acceptance marks & S#. Smooth walnut grips secured by two rivets. Brass pommel. Steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade has extensive staining, oxidation & fine pitting. Crossguard turning patina. Grips have wear, dents & scratches. Pommel has wear, turning patina. Scabbard retains some original blue w/ oxidation, wear, dents & pitting. No.6: French Model 1874 Gras Bayonet. 20 1/2" bright "T" profile blade. 25 3/8" overall. Script markings on back of blade include "St / Etienne / 1878". Walnut grips. Brass pommel. Scabbard is not present. CONDITION: entire bayonet has the weathered, oxidized & worn look of a battlefield relic. Bayonet catch does not function. (02-23852/RW). NON-GUN. $300-500.
