.45-70 caliber, 32.5" barrel, S/N 73937. Arsenal reblued barrel with case hardened lock and full-length walnut stock with two barrel bands. Blade front sight with Model 1873 elevator rear sight. Barrel marked with "V/P/[eagle]/p" proofs. Chamber marked "MASS", with breechblock marked "U.S./MODEL/1873". Three-click tumbler. Stock marked forward of buttplate "6/42". Counterpane marked with script "JSA/1898" cartouche, likely so-marked during arsenal refinishing for sale to Massachusetts Militia at the onset of the Spanish-American War. **Fine condition. Barrel retains nearly all of its blued finish with some dulling of case hardening. Stock shows some handling marks and blemishes retaining an attractive red color.
