.45-70 caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 104. Blued finish with walnut stock. Blade font sight with Model 1873 rear sight. Model 1877 stock with keyhole buttplate trap. Three-click tumbler. Ordnance records show that this particular piece was recalled for refurbishing and upgrade at Springfield Arsenal in 1876, and is the earliest 1873 trapdoor seen on the market in many years. A 1994 letter from the Springfield Research Service confirms this carbine's current state of arsenal refurbishment. **Good condition as-is. Most fo the blued finish remains with some scattered light rust and oxidation. Trap is empty. Stock shows numerous blemishes from age and use including some dents on left side of stock where it appears to have been used as a hammer. Action is functional with a fair bore showing some old pitting and wear with visible rifling.** $4,000-$6,000
