mm caliber, Serial #771. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 23” barrel with a ramp post front and military tangent style rear sights. The barrel retains the majority of its military finish with German proofs and some light to moderate surface erosion evident. The receiver is also German Eagle proofed in several locations and shows considerable original military finish. The front ring is marked “AMBERG”, dated 1906 The rifle retains the bayonet lug and cleaning rod. The smooth wood stock is in good condition showing moderate use with dents, compressions and a 1 ½” lateral crack at the butt. The butt stock has cartouches on both sides and ends with a smooth, steel butt plate. The bore is fair, the action crisp and markings are sharp on this pre-WWI era Mauser. Est.: $500-$1,000. (C+R).
