mm caliber, Serial #4294. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 24” barrel with a protected post front and military tangent style rear sights. The barrel retains the majority of its military finish with German proofs and some light surface erosion. The receiver is also German Eagle proofed in several locations and shows considerable original military finish. The front ring is marked “ERFURT”, dated 1917 with all matching visible serial numbers, except the flag safety assembly. The rifle retains the bayonet lug, stacking rod and military style leather sling. The smooth wood stock is in good condition showing moderate use with mars, compressions and several cartouches on the left side of the butt. The butt stock ends with a smooth, steel butt plate. The bore is fair, the action crisp and markings are sharp on this WWI era Mauser. Est.: $500-$1,000. (C+R).
