.577 caliber, 19.25" barrel, S/N C688. Blued finish with carbine stock secured with barrel band. Blade front sight with elevator rear sight graduated to 600 yards. Barrel marked with Birmingham commercial proofs, breech marked with Snider patent markings and Birmingham production stamp. Lockplate shows "BSA & MGo/1875" forward of hammer with "[crown]/G.P" to the rear. Buttplate tang marked "R9/F/53" unit markings In October 1874, Birmingham Small Arms negotiated a contract with the Portuguese government for 1,200 cavalry carbines. **Very good condition overall. Barrel has a dark pewter patination with with some scratching around breech block. Some handling marks and blemishes to stock. Bore is bright with good edges to rifling.** $1,500-$2,500
