Civil War Era 1860's Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Army .32 Rimfire Single Action Revolver
Manufactured in early 1860's. This Civil War era revolver features a 6" solid ribbed octagon barrel with brass blade front sight. Top of the barrel is stamped "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS C". Single action tip-up barrel with removeable cylinder, fixed ejector rod, cylinder stop on the top strap and spur trigger. Six-round cylinder chambered for .32 RF, patent dates stamped on the cylinder are nearly worn and illegible. Early production model with two pins in the top strap, factory done. A "C" is stamped on the top of the barrel, on the left top corner near the hinge as well as a suffix on the serial number. These were very popular sidearms during the Civil War and by western gunslingers such as "Wild Bill" Hickok. Serial numbers under 35,731 have a high probability of being a side arm to soldiers during the Civil War. CALIBER: 32 RF. S/N: 4040C. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Finish is now into "the white". Does show a few scratches in the metal. Some screws and front sight show marring. Grips show some dings. Dark bore but great mechanics. Great historical piece!
