William Chance Flintlock Pistol
Made by William Chance of London, England circa 1820. Fitted with 10" octagon 70 caliber smoothbore barrel with bead front sight, "LONDON" barrel marking, platinum breech band, and silver notch rear sight. Single bolt flintlock with floral engraving and missing safety catch with brass pan and gold oval inlay with "CHANCE" marked on it. Lock is controlled by a single set trigger with steel finger spur engraved trigger guard. Walnut checkered grip stock similar to a "saw handle" grip with swelled rim butt with silver oval inlay on base. Stock has sterling silver oval inlay on left side with silver nosecap and silver escutcheon plates and a German silver plate in front of lock bolt. Comes with original hardwood ramrod with brass tip. CALIBER: 70. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall fair with barrel showing various dings and marks with finish worn silver with light oxidation. Lock missing safety. Wood sliver missing from front lock area on both sides with checkering worn flat. Pitted bore with mechanics out of adjustment.
