Interesting rifle which resembles an Allen & Wheelock Falling Block. Rifle could be a prototype or unmarked gunsmith made rifle to break into the late 1800's single shot market. 30" blued octagon unmarked barrel in an unknown 44 centerfire caliber with Beech front sight and notched adjustable rear sight. Case-hardened Falling Block action with plain trigger and catch release operating lever. Walnut plain butt stock with cupped steel butt plate and plain walnut splinter forearm. A rifle in need of much more research. J.T. Livengood Collection. CALIBER: Unknown 44 cal. Centerfire. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
90% original blue with edge wear and light handling marks. Action has faded to a brown patina with slight surface discoloration. Wood has traces of original varnish with handling dings and marks. Good bore and mechanics.
